Digital microscope is a variation of the traditional optical microscope. It uses optics and a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera to project a digital image onto a screen sometimes with the help of a software program being in operation on a computer. Unlike optical microscope whereby a sample is directly examined through an eyepiece, a digital microscope lacks such provision of direct observation, and the sample is only studied by observing the image projected on a plane screen. In this type of microscope of optics for the human eye are removed.
